Well, it works well, and does, for a 20 quart mixer, 2 loaves as easily as 8 or 20 loaves.
It’s strong and it works great. I’m going to have to buy an extra bowl for next year.

I just purchased a 1957 Blakeslee 20 quart mixer for the purpose of breadmaking. First time I used it (moments ago) it seemed to bog down a lot while mixing potato salad. Haven’t read your whole blog….just was searching for 20 quart bread etc. and happened upon it. Feel free to email me with your 20 quart adventures (I assume you purchased this for home use as did I) ….at paddle_ely@yahoo.com
Thanks and good luck.
Hello,
The Hobart was given to me and I used it at the Greenville Arms and the Hudson River Valley Art Workshops. http://www.greenvillearms.com. The original owners of the Arms gave it to me. It’s great.
No adventures. It’s just a big mixer or rather a small commercial mixer. I used to use a large floor model that was 100 qts. That’s getting large. However, it makes great bread.
20 qts for home mixing is big. Good luck with it.
