Working from an enlarged photograph of a favorite pet, mammal, or one of Jane’s original patterns, you will explore color theory through simple, practical exercises in color selection, value, and contrast. What You Will Learn

About Jane Haworth
Originally from England and now residing in California, Jane Haworth is a self-taught quilter who draws inspiration from photos of the natural world. Her vibrant fabric collages have been exhibited in quilt shows across the U.S., reflecting her love of color, texture, and storytelling through fabric.
Jane teaches both nationally and internationally, encouraging students to embrace creativity and experimentation. Jane has taught at IQF Houston, Road to California, Festival of Quilts in the UK, Quilt Festival Dubai and Empty Spools Seminars in 2026. her work has been featured on Quilting Arts TV and The Quilt Show (May 2025) and Jane’s book, Capture Your Own Life with Collage Quilting, was published by Landauer Publishing in Fall 2023.
Jane’s inspiration stems from a deep love of color, pattern, and the natural world. Her brightly colored quilts are approachable for beginners, with techniques that are both relaxing and addictive. Using simple, hand-drawn shapes on fabric that are cut, layered, and glued, which brings these collaged images to life. Her process is fun, forgiving, and guided by a “no rules” philosophy. Once the collage is complete, Jane adds depth, texture, and interest through free-motion quilting, giving each piece its own lively personality.
